That's negative 30, right? 1/3 times 90 is 30, and then you a1 is equal to 90 and yourĬommon ratio is equal to negative 1/3. You, hey, you've got a geometric sequence. On the other hand, if your sequence starts with a(0), you will often find your exponent needs to be n in order for your initial value to be correct for building the sequence you want. If you start at a(1), you will usually need to have your exponent as the expression n-1 to match the sequence that you are given. Whichever way you start numbering, it is always important to check that your formula for the sequence actually ends up with the sequence that you want. In the case that Sal is modeling, the first thing that happens is slightly different, so we call it "0" When we use sequences to match or model actual occurrences, it can get pretty interesting. It is usually easier for humans to keep track if the first item is called the n = 1 item. However, you can define your first term as a(0) in the same way that in a computer array, the first element is the 0th item. If you mean that the a(1) is your first term, then you cannot have a zero term. Back here where math is simpler, we do often talk about a(1) as the first item. You will find that sequences don't always start with a(1). ![]() MCN uses pre-made cages they get from a manufacturer in China. ![]() I’ll be doing a full review once I’ve worn the Amicus for a while, but I’ll share a few details here.Īs noted on the MCN website, the Amicus is a semi-custom device meaning it is not fully customizable. Problem solved! I put on the MM base ring, put the cage back on, and it fit like a glove. But, to my surprise, the MM ring fit like a champ. Parts from different chastity devices NEVER interchange. Would the rings interchange, I wondered? I grabbed my MM 1-7/8 inch round ring. It looked very much like the base rings for my MM device. But, after taking off the ring, I noticed something. Since I’d hoped to get the Amicus in time for my first full month with GC and did, I was bummed about ordering a base ring that didn’t work. So, immediately, I went back to the MCN site and ordered my usual 1-7/8 inch round base ring. I toughed it out for an hour, hoping it was only a new sensation I’d acclimate to, but it only got worse with time. The middle of the ring behind my ball sack put a lot of compression on a spot where it didn’t feel good at all. As soon as I put the ring on, I knew it was too tight. ![]() But, I’ve never worn an oval-shaped ring, which I learned makes a significant difference. I’ve worn a 1-5/8 inch base ring before without problems. Unfortunately, through no fault of his, it didn’t work at all. Mark at MCN delivered precisely what I asked for. Since the MCN devices have an identical mechanism for mating the cage to the ring as MM, I decided to change all three variables when I ordered the Amicus. Also, because my Mature Metal Watchful Mistress turned too much when I wore it with a plastic numbered lock for the first time, I thought I’d drop down to a 1-5/8 inch base ring in hopes of solving that problem. I’ve thought for a while now that I needed to try some new things-a 1/4-inch cage to base ring gap rather than my usual 3/8-inch gap, and an oval-shaped instead of a round base ring. I have to say I already love this cage, though I made errors when I ordered it. I’m also sporting a new chastity cage for the month, the Amicus from Male Chastity Now (MCN) that I recently purchased. It feels good to be under the steady hand of GC once again after a few days of self-locking while wear testing the CB-6000. This time we’ve agreed to a full one-month lock up. Locking Togo into the in ring cage, YOH then kicked EVIL low and got a nearfall from a Five Star Clutch before a thrust kick, but EVIL escaped Direct Drive and hit EVIL for the victory, new champions being crowned. As of Thursday, June 11, I’m back in the chastity saddle again, locked by my new keyholder who we’ll call Goddess Camille. YOH swung for the fences with a lariat to EVIL before striking Togo with an STO. As Goto took the fight to the floor, EVIL shut Goto in a cage with Yujiro and SHO on the outside, putting YOH at a practical handicap again with EVIL and Dick Togo. Dick Togo would provide the illegal added advantage before SHO brought another cage into the ring. Goto was able to free YOH, but EVIL shut YOSHI-HASHI away, leaving HOUSE OF TORTURE with the numbers edge again. With the same furious energy, YOH shot SHO into the ringside guardrail before slamming a dog house over his former partners head still he was unable to lock SHO away, instead being shut inside a separate cage by Yujiro after a Pimp Juice on the floor. YOH valiantly fought in the face of H.O.T punishment, landing a barrage of Dragon Screws to EVIL and Yujiro before a neckbreaker to SHO gave him enough time to grab a key and release his partners. That was the position YOH was put in from the outset though, left at an extreme handicap as HOUSE OF TORTURE shut both Goto and YOSHI-HASHI in a cage. The champion side of Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI and YOH headed into their bout with EVIL SHO and Yujiro Takahashi with an added rule to the no tag contest- keys for each of the ringside dog cages were on the ring posts, and could be used to release a team mate if they were locked away. ![]() September 23’s penultimate evening on the Burning Spirit tour saw the NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Championships on the line, the Tornado Dog Cage Survival Match having been delayed from the prior week in Beppu. Both are excellent, and a more effective example of Dopesick trying to put a human face on the epidemic than various sluggish scenes depicting the crumbling of Bridget’s marriage to Paul (Raúl Esparza). Keaton and Dever play fictional composite characters living in and around the coal mining industry. One episode opens with a chyron declaring that it’s one year later than the previous installment, but what does that mean in a story where the action is constantly scrolling between eras? As is usually the case, the fractured narrative creates more problems than it solves, making it harder to connect the dots from various Purdue tactics to the ways in which ordinary people are harmed by them. And good luck keeping track of the miniseries’ four timelines - one for each investigation, one for Richard Sackler, and one for Michael Keaton and Kaitlyn Dever as two victims of the crisis - without a conspiracy board handy. It’s meant to offer dramatic tension, and to illustrate just how invulnerable a corporation like Purdue can seem, but it doesn’t work. And introducing Bridget after her attempt has crashed and burned undercuts every scene where she seems to be making progress. Though Bridget attacks the problem from different angles than Rick and Randy do, shifting between the two cases creates a feeling of redundancy. One is Meyer’s DEA operation the other involves Virginia prosecutors Rick Mountcastle (Peter Sarsgard in a really distracting wig) and Randy Ramseyer (John Hoogenakker), who eventually learn that Bridget already tried and failed to bust Purdue. Dopesick bounces around from 1996, when Purdue put Ox圜ontin on the market, through two federal investigations into the drug’s effect on society that unfold over the course of a decade. Strong becomes the latest prestige-TV creator to fall in love with nonlinear storytelling to his own detriment. Individual episodes feel too long, and Dopesick as a whole seems to have no business lasting eight-plus hours, repeating various logistical and thematic details again and again with diminished effectiveness each time. In isolated moments, the miniseries functions exactly as prescribed, offering a devastating portrait of how Purdue helped turn us into, as DEA agent Bridget Meyer (Rosario Dawson) puts it, “a pill-popping zombie nation.” More often, though, the drama’s emotional impact fades too quickly, and chief writer and producer Danny Strong ( E mpire) attempts to compensate by doubling the dosage. ![]() This is, unfortunately, the narrative philosophy of Dopesick itself. Neither claim proved true, a fact that Sackler and his underlings tried to conceal by insisting that the drug’s failures were actually signs of patients suffering “breakthrough pain.” The only treatment for that condition, they said? You guessed it - even more Ox圜ontin, which only decreased the medication’s effectiveness and increased its addictive qualities, on and on, until whole communities were being destroyed. Pharma execs and sales reps insisted that the painkiller was both nonaddictive and long-lasting. The new Hulu limited series Dopesick adapts Beth Macy’s investigative bestseller about the causes of the opioid epidemic - and, specifically, the role that the family-run Purdue Pharma company and its chairman, Richard Sackler (Michael Stuhlbarg) played in getting America hooked on Ox圜ontin. “The story of Michelin and that of Clermont-Ferrand are closely tied,” said Stéphane Nicolas, curator at L’Aventure Michelin. Though an industrial city, Clermont-Ferrand has a bucolic setting: the sweeping Limagne plain is puckered by the Chaîne des Puys, which was inscribed on Unesco’s World Heritage list in 2018 due to its impressive geological properties. “What was innovative in the Michelin Guides was their incorporation of automobile transport, their more detailed information on routes their rating system for hotels and restaurants.”Ĭlermont-Ferrand was the original location of the Michelin head office and remains so to this day. “Michelin anticipated the directions in which tourism was heading in the early 20th Century,” said Prof Patrick Young, a specialist in 19th- and 20th-Century French history at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. With the advent of Michelin stars in 1926, awarded to the best restaurants in the guides, durable car tyres and the pursuit of exceptional boeuf bourguignon became forever entwined. The guides’ coverage of restaurants with standout regional cuisine and well-stocked wine cellars coaxed drivers into travelling further (and, of course, they needed sturdy Michelin tyres to complete their journeys). One of the company’s cleverest manoeuvres was to highlight food worth travelling for. In Washington D.C., The Inn at Little Washington is a more traditional joint that dishes up intricate vegetable creations and grows many ingredients on site. With the launch of Michelin Guides and maps in the early 20th Century, the brothers managed to make ‘Michelin’ a by-word not only for tyres – today they are the world’s second-largest tyre manufacturer by revenue – but also for travel and haute cuisine.
